10 Best Stores for Tall Women

Do you ever buy something simply because it’s on sale? Some deals feel too good to pass up! Or maybe you just HAVE to HAVE a trendy piece. These things used to convince me to purchase items that weren’t always the right fit. Too small for my shoulders. Too large for my waist. Too short for my legs. It didn’t bother me until they were sitting in my closet and I didn’t wear them enough.

Not every piece of clothing is made for my body. I am tall, thin, have broad shoulders, and a small cup size. Shopping for tops with long enough sleeves, broad enough shoulders (without being boxy or sloppy), and jeans with enough length (that still fit my waist) has always been a struggle. Hence the compromise for the too small, too large, too short items. But now, I’m much more focused on only buying items that fit properly. This often means shopping at stores that cater to my figure, and reminding myself again that not every piece of clothing is made for my body (and that is totally OK).

I created this list for all the tall ladies and girls out there! I also made note of the other inclusive sizing these shops carry (petite, curvy, maternity). Say goodbye to high waters and hello to your new strut! Here’s 10 stores for tall women:

1. Abercrombie and Fitch

If you’re like me, Abercrombie might remind you of your middle school days. The strong scent of cologne seeping out of the store and into the mall. Fitted polos with the collar popped. Everything bore the moose logo. To say the least, it has not been on my radar for over a decade. But I discovered that they have an amazing selection of tall jeans, coats, dresses, and rompers (sans moose logos) through another tall blogger named Ashley Bell. They also carry a lot of petite options too! A&F offers so many great basics, along with trendy pieces each season – you can’t go wrong!

2. ASOS

Living in the UK, ASOS is synonymous with young, trendy style. They host a massive offering of tall styles (from swimwear to bridesmaid dresses), as well as petite, curvy, and maternity options! I love that their site is very user-friendly (great filtering capabilities). They offer “Premier Delivery” which allows you to get next day shipping for a small annual fee in the UK. It’s great for last minute events or when you procrastinate buying a swimsuit for your upcoming vacation (guilty). There is a similar option in the US, but it offers express shipping (not next day, since the US is much larger than the UK). One of my favorite things about their tall denim selection is that you can choose between a 36″ and a 38″ inseam.

Currently, many wardrobe faves are up to 50% off.

3. Top Shop

Top Shop is another retailer that offers tall and petite options! Their tall offering is not as vast as ASOS, but they have lots of trendy pieces from streetwear to loungewear. The store near Oxford Circus in London even has a corner dedicated to tall options. I never thought I’d see the day when a mainstream retailer offered tall sizes that I could shop IN PERSON!

Sale items are up to 50% off + get an extra 10% off with code ‘EXTRA10’ (today only).

4. Madewell

This cool and casual brand for denim lovers stocks tall jeans for those 6′ and above! Madewell offers “Tall” and “Taller” sizing, along with petite and “extended sizes.” They also have a small selection of tall dresses and jumpsuits to choose from. Check out their best sellers and top rated items!

5. Old Navy/Gap

5’10” and up? They got you covered! These stores are always running great sales or offering discount coupons. Not only do they sell tall sizes, but they also carry petite, plus, and maternity options. I particularly love the affordable (and SUPER CUTE) activewear options they sell in inclusive sizes.

6. Ann Taylor/Loft

Ann Taylor is the perfect spot to shop tall workwear. Suits, blouses, dresses – you name it! The Ann Taylor website has a clearly labeled “Tall” (and petite!) section in the menu at the top of the page. The Loft, a chain owned by Ann Taylor, offers a wider variety of casual options (a-line skirts, swing dresses, denim, etc.). Enter “tall” into the search function to discover your options.

7. Missguided

Another retailer that pumps out trendy tall pieces! Their website allows you to shop by fit (tall, curvy, petite, or maternity), which is always a plus. I hate sifting through an entire collection to find one or two tall items. If you’re looking for a sexy dress for a night out – Missguided has you covered. They also offer tons of tall skirts, knitwear, and denim!

Currently 60% everything (except sale items) using code ‘dollar.’

8. Long Tall Sally

LTS sells clothing and shoes for women 5’8″ and up. An entire website dedicated to the vertically blessed! Praise! If you are between a size 0-4, like me, you might not have much luck with LTS jeans and trousers because they start at a size 4 and tend to run large. However, they have tons of jackets, coats, sweaters, blouses, and dresses for those long limbs!

AE sells long and extra long jeans (along with petite options). They also have several casual dresses in tall sizes. Woot woot! Their sizes range from a 00 to a 24. Aerie is the lingerie/loungewear sub-brand owned by AE. They offer several adorable long one piece swimsuits and tall leggings.

  1. I’m on the short side when it comes to height, I wish I was taller! Jeans always seem to bunch up at my ankles and I’m not a fan of that. With lines becoming more inclusive these days I guess it wouldn’t hurt to check out these stores for a good pair of jeans seeing as I’ve never checked the names on your list before. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yes, you should definitely try some of the petite options! I totally know how frustrating it can be to shop for jeans that are the perfect length. It might be worth finding a seamstress that can hem your jeans for an affordable price too!
